The History
Next Memory niche perfumery Atelier is immersed in the legacy of visionary J.J. Fernandes, who played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the field of pharmaceuticals in Portugal since 1899.
His laboratory and shop, located at the 187 Rua São José, became renowned for their high-quality products.
Inspired by the evocative power of scents and the rich cultural heritage of Portugal, Next Memory turn to the art of perfumery. Understanding the profound impact fragrance has on memories and emotions, we envisioned creating unique and captivating scents that would capture the essence of Portuguese culture.
With the establishment of the Next Memory niche perfumery Atelier, in the historial laboratory used by J.J.Fernandes we combine his scientific background with our passion for fragrances.
The atelier became a sanctuary for olfactory craftsmanship, where the crafted scents resonate with the Portuguese heritage, capturing the essence of its landscapes, traditions, and people.
The Legacy
The legacy of J.J. Fernandes and his laboratory lives on through Next Memory. The atelier’s commitment to excellence and passion for fragrance craftsmanship continues to inspire the pursuit of unique olfactory memories. With each perfume created, Next Memory pays homage to the visionary entrepreneur, J.J. Fernandes, and his relentless pursuit of scientific advancement and cultural expression.
His laboratory presented an important scientific dynamic since the beginning with the edition of “Boletim Pharmacologico” and the registration of several patents of his inventions.
J.J Fernandes laboratory was the first to introduce in Portugal dragees using coating and keratin and will have given a new impetus to the manufacture of pills.
The original furniture and worktops remain in the Atelier and serve today as the basis for all our creations. Entering our atelier is a journey through time, in a historic building that withstood the earthquake of 1755 and in a pharmacological laboratory that was preserved over 120 years to house our creations.
